The Murray Hill neighborhood was established in 1906, with the main residential growth occurring in the 1940s. Murray Hill was once a town, with a Mayor, Town Clerk, and Councilmen. Murray Hill Preservation Association (MHPA), the neighborhood not-for-profit, was formed in 1932 and works to promote, preserve, and protect the history and resources of the neighborhood. MHPA organizes the popular Murray Hill-O-Ween party in late October each year.

Many residents walk or bike to the commercial areas of Edgewood Avenue. New options for dining, entertainment, and shopping are popping up all the time. You’ll also find plenty of green space in Murray Hill, with the Four Corners Park, Murray Hill Park and Playground (featuring a splash pad for summertime fun!), and Powers Park.
