The Rivertown Community in St. Johns County Celebrates it's Grand Opening of its Amenity Center

RiverTown, the 4,170-acre St. Joe Company master-planned residential development in St. Johns County has officially opened its state of the art amenity and fitness center. Taking up more than 11 acres, the list of sports, and leisure options at Rivertown has something for everyone -- fitness, family fun, nature trails, even accommodations for fishing and boating just a short distance from any of the RiverTown community homes. 

ST. JOHNS, Fla. (June 13, 2012) – Hundreds of residents and visitors alike gathered to celebrate the opening of RiverTown’s all-new amenity center Saturday, May 19. This state-of-the-art amenity center boasts a splash pool with corkscrew waterslide, a lap pool, tennis courts, fitness center and club room with entertaining space. The Grand Opening event featured carnival games and face painting as well as a bouncy house and balloon artist for the kids. Visitors explored the grounds on  the community’s many trails, cast lines off the fishing pier at Riverfront Park, played tennis, swam and just relaxed and enjoyed the view of the St. Johns River. The community’s model homes were also open for tours. A few visitors won gift cards to Latitude 30 and Dave and Buster’s. Lucky visitors Susan and Carson Schnell won a brand new two-person kayak.

Located in the heart of the community, RiverTown’s amenity center is situated on more than 11 acres and features two buildings – The RiverHouse and the Fitness Center – showcasing traditional Southern-style architecture and featuring more than 14,000 square feet under roof.

The RiverHouse provides ample space for both community and private gatherings and events. The interior offers a spacious club room, a meeting room, caterer’s kitchen and bathrooms. A wrap around front porch of the RiverHouse features relaxed seating and a glimpse of the new main entrance under construction.  Once construction on the new main entrance is completed at the end of 2012, the RiverHouse will offer spectacular views of the river. The RiverHouse cabana area features a palm court with outdoor fireplace and patio seating.

The Fitness Center, located across a courtyard event lawn, offers individual and group fitness areas, state-of-the-art fitness equipment, men and women’s locker rooms, a social director's office and pool access. The expansive resort-style pool area features a six-lane, junior Olympic lap pool and zero-entry family splash pool with corkscrew slide tower and trellis spray feature. Both pools can be heated to extend the swim season. The poolside veranda features a large shaded area with seating as well as lounge seating.

Sports lovers will enjoy RiverTown’s many athletic amenities. Three Har-Tru Hydrocourt tennis courts are available, including a stadium court with terraced seating. A playing field for open recreation is adjacent to the amenity center and a lakefront trail connects the amenity center to neighborhoods and other RiverTown parks and common areas. RiverTown’s community playground features a creative play zone with landscape maze and interactive playground equipment.

RiverTown’s signature Riverfront Park, with nearly one mile of St. Johns River frontage, encompasses nearly 58 acres of natural areas and canopy trees, an event lawn, fishing pier, waterfront overlook areas and a restroom pavilion. Residents and visitors can also enjoy walking and jogging trails along the riverfront and throughout the park.

The RiverTown Welcome Center is located at 39 Riverwalk Blvd. in St. Johns, Fla and is open Monday through Friday during regular business hours. The community’s model homes are open seven days a week.
